At night and on Sundays
There is no public veterinary emergency service and no rota like the pharmacies have. Out of hours means a private clinic that has chosen to staff the night, and the ones that do say so loudly on their sites, because it is their business. Ring first: a 24-hour claim on a website is a claim, and the phone is the test.
Chip, passport and the paperwork
A dog, cat or ferret in Spain must be microchipped and entered in the Andalusian animal register, which a clinic does at the first visit. Travelling into or out of Spain needs the EU pet passport and a rabies vaccination that is in date; the rules belong to the Spanish agriculture ministry and change with the destination, so read the ministry's own page rather than a forum.

One clinic states it on its own site as of 4 September 2026: Urvet Marbella, on Calle Padre Paco Ostos, open 24 hours every day by its own account. Clínica Veterinaria Elviria refers its out-of-hours calls there, and Vital Pet prints an emergency number without hours. Ring before you drive.
How much does a vet cost in Marbella?
No clinic in the municipality publishes a tariff on its site, so this page prints no price. Ask when you ring; a consultation price quoted over the phone is a real number, a figure from a forum is not.
Do I need to register my dog in Marbella?
Yes: a microchip and registration in the Andalusian animal identification register, done by any of the clinics above at the first visit. The town hall separately requires a licence for breeds it classes as potentially dangerous.
Can I bring my pet to Spain from the UK?
With an animal health certificate from a UK vet, a microchip and an in-date rabies vaccination, following the Spanish ministry's rules. The UK pet passport stopped being valid for entry to the EU in 2021; the EU passport can be issued by any clinic above once you are here.
